35-70mm f/2.8AF macro
Nikkor 35-70mm f/2.8 AF macro
To be honest, I hardly use this lens, maybe if I want to use the macro functionality. Although it is a good quality lens it to big for me. As you you might have noticed I'd like to travel around and take pictures of landscapes and cities. But because of it's macro capabilities it is useful sometimes.
Nikon produced about 130.00 pieces of this AF lens between 1987 and 1992. The AF-D version was produced till 2005, 430.000 of them. Mine is as AF from April 1990. It was introduced as its flagship mid-range profes-sional lens, it is build mostly of metal and is loaded with lots of professional glass, so it is heavier the you think but quite compact.
“It has Macro and it's super-sharp!”
Even wide open (f/2.8) it is pretty sharp all over and perfect two stops down. it focusses fast and has a minimal focus of 0,6m plus a Macro. To use macro you set the lens to 35mm, push the macro-button and rotating the entire zoom. Focussing on macro is always manual focus. It is super-sharp!
This lens has the least distortion of any Nikon professional zoom lenses. At eBay you can get it for around €200,00.
Although it is a great lens, I prefer my prime lenses because of the size, speed and weight, especially traveling around. For studio and macro photography it comes in handy sometimes.
